Introduction

Xmas worms

This is a reefkeeping hobby website, specializing in difficult to keep and less known species, like non-photosynthetic corals and filter feeding invertebrates.

Created to make the information about their keeping easily findable, and to exclude people who are preventing this.

Fills the niche of "how to", the first hand experience, keepers only group.

Website is flexible - any constructive ideas about improving the findability and usability of information are welcome.

Reefkeeping Community

  • Contributions are accepted through the Forum. Feel free to join.
  • This is a place of peace and quiet, friendly community for productive work.
  • Consider this place as a refugium from aggressive reefkeeping groups.

Is this for you or not:

  • No discrimination, based on years of experience, size of tanks, high-tech equipment, age, or gender of the members.
  • Stick to the practical approach: how to improve our knowledge about keeping unusual species and solve problems. How to - instead of why not to.
  • Doing the job, getting results and make them available to others - instead of generalizing, shaming, reasoning, or small talk. There are a lot of other places for that.
  • You will have to show the animals you are talking about - in your tank, in progress - for differentiating doers from talkers.

Main differences:

  • Answer the questions - don't push your alternative perception, especially when asked do not do that, or make personal evaluations.
  • If you can't understand what the other's problem is - that is your problem, don't post that.
  • Readers will not lecture keepers here (those who weren't able to keep the animals won't lecture those who were).
  • In order to keep this place in peace, aggressors will be out at the first sign of this behavior.
  • This site supports expanding our knowledge about nano-reefs and keeping a difficult species, and making reefkeeping affordable, so, be considerate and leave away "this is expensive hobby, if you can't afford it", "the bigger - the better", "small tanks are not stable", and "better be left in the ocean".
  • Another thing: this is website by hobbyists for hobbyists. None of us can afford full-scale scientific research, funded from our own pockets. Do not demand proof - prove it yourself, and tell us, and "anecdotal evidence" term is banned from this website, replace it by "empirical data".

You see the point. If this is a place for you - welcome aboard!

How to start:

  • Start working at the forums. Forum serves as an input place for a main site, storing all available information in the organized way. It works not by question-answer threads, but by one thread on topic.
  • Register, select topics, that are interesting for you, and contribute in any way you can. At least this will not be buried in the threads.
  • Or start the thread on a new topic, the forums will be defined later and these threads moved.
  • The site is flexible: want to add section or topic of interest - post it in suggestions.
